Description
In spite of the rods not touching this object is stable against pressure from every direction due to the continuous tension between the rods. This object was built by Karl-Heinz Volmer who donated it to the collection in 2017.
Additions
Tensegrity is an artificial word consisting of "tension" and "integrity". It describes a cluster of objects that do not touch, but are held in place by continous tension. Tensegrity was invented by architects and is nowadays used in e.g. bridges and modern art.
