Description
The suanpan is the chinese version of the abacus. It is divided in two parts, one with two beads ("heaven")and one with five beads per rod ("earth"). The object on display has this structure but is actually a giveaway produced in the 1960's by Tiemann, a pharmaceutical company. This object was donated to the collection by Karl-Heinz Volmer in 2017.
